Yolo County Real Estate & Information

Located just east of Napa County in the Sacramento Region of Northern California, Yolo County is an agricultural region home to approximately 169,000 people. As one of the original counties in the State, Yolo County was created in 1850 and now has four incorporated cities: Davis, West Sacramento, Winters, and Woodland. Smaller communities in the county include: Madison, Esparto, Brooks, Capay, Guinda, and  Rumsey. The area’s fertile soil and plentiful surface water supply make the county an organic and conventional farmer’s paradise, which is probably why Yolo County provides such a vast percentage of the fresh produce purchased by restaurants in San Francisco and Sacramento. Its pristine natural beauty, rich land, and small-town communities are just a few of the reasons why Yolo County real estate is always in demand.

Shopping and Dining
A blend of culture and rural perfection, Yolo County is home to a number of local artists and artisans. Stroll the streets of Downtown Davis or Historic Downtown Winters and peruse the many galleries and art shops that showcase the area’s artistic talent. Stroll Through History and enjoy the Historic Victorian homes in Woodland.  Daily necessities can be purchased easily in Woodland at the County Fair Mall and the Woodland Gateway Shopping Center. Hungry? For a local Davis favorite, make sure to indulge in fine Thai dining at KetMoRee on G Street. In Woodland, Silvina’s Basket serves up the new flavors of old Mexico. For more options, make sure to check out the many restaurants inside the Cache Creek Casino Resort in Brooks.

Parks and Recreation
The Yolo County Fairgrounds in Woodland features demolition derbies, carnivals, cooking competitions, and more throughout the year. Birdwatchers should check out the tens of thousands of waterfowl and shorebirds that rest and feed in the Yolo Basin/Yolo Wildlife area. Campers, hikers, fishers, and nature lovers of all kinds will enjoy the many treasures of the 700-acre Cache Creek Canyon Regional Park. The Mountain Valley Golf Course in Woodland is a public course that features 9 par 3 holes and a 75 tee grass driving range. With so many parks, nature preserves, waterways, and recreational facilities, Yolo county residents are never at a loss for things to do!

Living
Woodland serves as the county seat of Yolo County. Gorgeous Victorian-era homes and buildings line the streets of the city’s historic downtown and its surrounding neighborhoods. For an active but quite lifestyle, there’s nothing quite like relocating to Davis. With controlled growth, innovative housing, and over 95 miles of bike paths, the city is the perfect spot for your new home. Looking for extra space? Consider a multi-acre ranch or farm in Esparto or the Capay Valley.

Schools, Health, Transportation
The Yolo County Office of Education manages the area’s public school systems, which include several school districts, such as the Woodland Joint Unified School District and the Davis Joint Unified School District. Davis, Yolo County’s largest city, is also home to the University of California, Davis campus. Residents of Yolo County can take the Yolobus into nearby Sacramento and to the Sacramento International Airport. There is also an Amtrak station in Davis, for those who prefer to travel by train.
